Since 1960 Stockslager’s Garden Center has gone from a seasonal bedding plant operation to a year around production facility.Started by Ray And Joyce Stockslager, many hours were put into this part time hobby. In 1980, sons Duke and Scott came into the business full time.
Today the greenhouse is operated year around with the help of Scott’s Wife Barb. Going from spring sales to fall mums they end the year with poinsettias. As soon as the new year arrives nearly 20,000 flats of nonstop begonias are transplanted to be sent out to other growers for pot and hanging basket production throughout the midwest.
For both their retail and wholesale operation Stockslager’s produce most of their own product. With nearly five acres under cover, plug production of annuals and perennials are done on site. |
